Atlantic Festival

This important festival marks the beginning of the summer festivities on Madeira with numerous activities in the centre of Funchal to include an international firework display competition every Saturday plus Classical Music performances and street entertainment throughout the month.See www.madeiranow.org for a schedule of specific events.
Saturday Fireworks Competition
This event certainly is a major breathtaking attraction. Visitors are treated to a glorious Firework every Saturday night throuout June. These exciting pyrotechnic performances are set to music, starting around 10pm and lasting about 20 minutes and combine fireworks and music in an unique experience for all.
Concerts feature before and after the firework displays. Different international companies fire each display in competition for a trophy awarded by public vote, through the Internet and boxes located in strategic places in Funchal city (City Pier – day of the show, La Vie, Marina Shopping, Av. Arriaga Tourism Office) Best place to view is on the Avenida do Mar.
