Cherry Festival
Jardim da Serra (near Câmara de Lobos) is a charming village known as the Land of Cherries. This is the only place on the island where Cherries are commercially grown and the festival celebrates the harvest. On Sunday, there is a parade where some techniques for harvesting and collecting cherries are demonstrated. There is also a cherry parade of wicker baskets filled with cherries and many street stalls where you can sample some of the great home made cherry liqueurs, to include the famous Ginjinha. Great musical entertainment in the evenings for local bands.
